Base Coat for Nails

Base Coat
By Beauty With Confidence

Many of you might be wondering what a base coat is and what is its use? Well, a base coat is normally used onto your nails before you apply Nail Polish, normally it is of clear colour.

This base coat helps the nail polish stick to your nail more easily. In other words, it acts as an adhesive between the nail polish and your nail. It also has the ability to protect your nails from the damaging effects of a nail polish by creating a barrier. It also prevents staining and peeling and gives your polished nails a more even texture.

Many base coats are fortified with substances such as protein, vitamin E or calcium. These ingredients help keep nails healthier and prevent breaking, splitting and peeling.

Base coats are either plain or ridge-filler - Ridge-filling base coats are thicker than regular base coats. They fill in any lines, ridges and grooves to give the nails a smoother looking appearance.

3 Reasons to Use a Base Coat:
  • It extends the life of your manicure.
A base coat helps your nail to be stronger as well. They keep your polish chip-free.
  • It gives the polish an even surface to adhere to.
By using a base coat first, you will prevent your polish from getting lined and eliminate those “ridges” that can sometimes appear on your nails.
  • It will help prevent dark colors from staining your nail beds.
We have all experienced the yellow nails that often follow dark nail polish – this phenomenon can be prevented with the right base coat.
And with deep fall colors coming into season, it’s more important than ever to use one so that your nails remain healthy.
