things to do to help you lose the extra pounds
To lose weight you actually don’t have to ‘stop
living your life’. Some people feel that when they are going towards a diet
this means to starve yourself and prevent yourself from eating good food. But
that is not the case. Instead of wishing to lose weight every time a big event
comes up, learn to maintain your weight. Eating right and healthier will help
you lose the extra pounds and help you maintain your ideal weight. Read further
to find the easy things you can do to go ahead.
1.
Intake
quantity
Some people have the tendency to fill
their plate when eating. Thus, a full plate of food would equal a full stomach.
However, gradually start decreasing the size of your plate and the quantity
intake. This will help you eat the right amount without feeling that you are
eating less. Your stomach will decrease in size instead of expanding and at the
end you will be full and happy.
2.
Meals
at least 4 hours before sleeping
Make sure that you have your last meal 4
hours before you sleep. This gives your body time to digest your food. Your body
metabolism is quite low during the night thus you are more prone to gain weight
if you are sleeping with food on your stomach.
3.
Before
bed?
Before going to bed you might want to
have green tea, a glass of warm water with lemon and honey or simple warm water
with lemon this will help you speed up the slow metabolism during the night and
breakdown your food quicker.
4.
When
you wake up?
A glass of warm water with lemon helps
early morning to kick off the day but make sure you have a good breakfast
after. However, if you have a very light breakfast then a good glass of cold
water can help you just fine. But either one of those drinks are good to have
first thing in the morning with an empty stomach.
5.
Your
daily food
Eat at least 5 small portions a day and avoid
snacking. If you eat the 3 normal portions you tend to eat more than you should
on your next meal as you feel hungrier. However, if you eat at least 5
portions, you do not feel hungry and you have less chance of building up gas in
your body.
6.
Say
‘No’ to sugary drinks
Avoid having fizzy drinks, juice in
boxes, and all drinks that contains sugar. Did you know that one can of coke;
can contain 10 to 12 spoons of sugar? Try drinking more water and if you feel
the urge to have juice have homemade juice instead with actual fruits and no
sugar.
7.
Say
‘No’ to Sugary Snacks
Snacking is a big problem and promotes
weight gain. So, instead of snacking on anything that comes your way, choose to
snack on cut fruits or vegetables, low-fat yogurt, cereal bars, etc.
8.
Less
Whites?
When preparing your meals make sure you
have less whites on your plate. Like cut down on the rice, pasta, bread,
etc. However, a good way to help with this lifestyle would be to ditch whites
completely and eat brown rice, brown bread or brown pasta.
9.
Sides
Who does not love sides? However, these
can be harmful and make u end up over eating. Thus, if sides are necessary
veggies or a more healthy side would be best instead of oily fries for example.
10. Treat Day
Keep one day of the week as your treat
day. That day, treat yourself something that you like and eat anything you like
but definitely in moderation.
As we say, ‘prevention is better than cure’. Staying
on this healthy lifestyle will help you maintain your body weight for sure.
